I am the son of Sarah Randall FURBY [see photo] and we are the descendents
of John (William) Furby born 1787 and his wife Sarah born 1794.
John (William) and Sarah lived around East London / Middlesex in England and
between 1812 and 1836 are believed to have had 12 children as
follows:-
It is not yet certain where John (William) and Sarah were married or when. The closest match found to date is the marriage record of John Furby and Sarah Parks of the 6th of July, 1811 at Lambeth. As yet, it is not known where (or when exactly) John (William) or his wife were born. John William Furby (born 1812) and listed in the above table was my great great grandfather. He was baptised at Saint Mary-Le-Bone church near Regents Park in London. My great great grandfather married Elizabeth Collier in 1833 at Christchurch, Spitalfields, London. As far as we know, they had 7 children as follows:-
My great grandfather was James Joseph Furby as listed in the above table. His older brother, Alfred Henry Furby also shown in the table has descendents today in various locations. These include the descendents of his son John William Furby (born 1874) who live in the south-east of England and those of his other son Charles Edwin Furby (born 1861) who emigrated to the USA in 1888 and has descendents today in California. My great grandfather moved from London to Liverpool between the 8th of October 1866 (when his daughter Florence was born) and 13th August 1867 (when daughter Florence was christened in Liverpool). Most of the Furbys including my great grandfather were painters, glaziers or plumbers. James Joseph Furby and Harriet are known to have had 10 children in Liverpool as follows but 7 of these did not reach the age of 3 years:-
My grandfather John William Furby was born 18 July 1881 [see photo]. He married my grandmother, Sarah Randale Halsall on 26 Dec 1920. As well as those in Britain and USA, there are known descendents of John (William) and Sarah in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. Their son George Frederick Furby born in 1820 had a son also named George Frederick [see photo]. who emigrated to Australia and has descendents there today. Walter Charles Furby was the son of James Samuel (born 23 Nov 1823) who in turn was another son of John (William) Furby and Sarah at the top of our Furby family tree. Walter Charles was born 5 Nov 1846 at Bethnal Green, London and in 1862 moved to New Zealand, eventually settling at Timaru. He was married twice but had no grandsons though he does have descendents today [see photo]. My uncle, James Edward Furby was the last member of our family with the surname "Furby" in Liverpool, England. He died in a tragic accident in Ceylon in 1958 while at sea. "Uncle Jimmy" worked at sea as a steward and as well as travelling to the Far East, he made many trips to America working for Cunard.
