There are a number of Furby family groups in New Zealand as follows. Theses include descendents of John Furby (born around 1787) & Sarah of Middlesex. It is possible also that the George Frederick Furby (born around 1840) below was related distantly to my own Furbys but this has not yet been shown.

Descendents of George Frederick Furby born 1840
There are descendents of George Frederick Furby in New Zealand today. He was born about 1840 and had come from Hastings, Kent, England and moved to New Zealand in 1873. George Frederick had worked as a Steward but had been a Painter and Glazier by trade. He had married a Harriet Thildrich about 1867-1877.

Descendents of Walter Charles Furby born 1846
My great grandfather James Joseph Furby, had a cousin Walter Charles Furby who has descendents today in New Zealand. Walter Charles who was born at Bethnal Green, London, England moved to New Zealand in 1862 and married twice there. His first marriage was to Charlotte Baker at Timaru in 1874 and his second was to Susan Ruxton in 1884. There were children from both marriages. Walter Charles had first of all tried his hand at farming but found it did not suit him. He later made his living as a Carpenter at Timuaru.

Descendents of William Stafford Furby born 1849
In 1858 a William Stafford Furby who was born in London, England in 1849 arrived at Lyttleton, Christchurch with his parents George Furby and Elizabeth Ann. William Stafford became a District Telegraph Engineer at Auckland. He is believed to be the same William Stafford Furby who experimented with the early telephone in 1878.
