One family can be traced back to Andrew Ferby (Andreui Fferby) and their family tree also includes a John Ferby in the early 1600s. The family has a coat of arms shown right which contains three goats heads and is similar to that of the Cordwainers Guild (Durham) of 1430. In 1430, a John Furby was the Member of Parliament for Shoreham. The earliest record of a Furby for my spelling is believed to be of a William Furby. He is documented as the executor of the will of the Earl of Cobham in 1400. William Furby may have been the lawyer attached to the household.
