Furby by Country England Liverpool Addresses Contact |
The map below shows some of the main districts. My own Furbys lived just south of the city centre after my great grandfather arrived in Liverpool from London in 1865 / 1866. For about 50 years they lived at various addresses in a small area close to the Toxteth, Dingle and Princes Park districts of the map shown. Most of these addresses also fall in the Liverpool 8 district of the city which in modern times all have postal codes starting with "L8". The birth, marriage and death registrations for these districts typically came under Toxteth Park or West Derby. When my grandfather John William Furby died in 1942 he was buried at Allerton Cemetary which is part of a light green area close to Hillfoot Road on the map.
While my own ancestors moved to Liverpool only in the mid 1860s, there were Furbys in the city before then including Elizabeth Firby who married on 17th April 1825. On the 14th of February 1857, Charles Furbee a Chief Mate died aged 35 at Northern Hospital in the Howard Street district of Liverpool. The cause was "Justifiable Homicide against Jeremiah Jones".
